A Relaxing Stay?
You’ll have a peaceful, pleasant, restful stay at all times of year and, depending on the season, you can try your hand at trout fishing or picking bilberries, raspberries, mushrooms, etc.
Listen to the stags roaring, watch the grouse with their mating displays… these are all very special moments.
Or you can capture the magic of a scene or landscape on canvas or camera...
The Louron Valley is a protected environment. Its natural places of interest offer a wide range of options for visits.
Also well worth a visit are the Romanesque churches with their altarpieces, including the Notre Dame d'Artiguelongue chapel, the Ourcibats barns and the Ourtiga hut in the Val d'Aube, the Pez Valley and the Clarabide Gorge, with their well-maintained mountain architecture. Closer to home you’ll find the Moulin de Saoussas (mill), the sites of former slate mines and the Arixo Museum, which offer more traditional visits.
Slightly further away are the Vielle-Aure manganese mine, the Rieumajou Hospices, the bear museum in Saint-Lary, the environmental and pastoral museum and apple museum in Ancizan, the pastoral farming museum in Azet, offering exhibitions and theme walks organised by our Tourist Offices.
On the other side of Peyresourde, Luchon offers its spa town architecture and shops along the Allées d'Etigny, while you can go bargain-hunting at the markets in Arreau on Thursdays, Bordères Louron on Sundays, Saint-Lary on Saturdays and Luchon on Wednesdays.
